Synopsis
Alisa "Alya" Mikhailovna Kujou is a half-Russian transfer student at Seirei Academy. With her striking looks and cool, composed attitude, she's easily one of the most popular girls in school, the kind of person everyone admires from a distance but feels a little too nervous to talk to.
Sitting right next to her is Masachika Kuze, an easygoing and pretty unmotivated classmate who doesn't seem to notice how amazing she is. That indifference actually gets under Alya's skin, and every so often she mutters little bursts of affection at him in Russian, fully convinced he has no idea what she's saying.
The catch: Masachika understands Russian perfectly. He just plays along, pretending not to notice, all while quietly falling for her too. What follows is a warm, funny slow-burn romance about two people who are terrible at being honest with each other, but somehow still find their way closer together.

Roshidere nails the slow-burn romance formula in a way that feels genuinely fresh. The chemistry between Alya and Masachika carries almost every scene, and their back-and-forth teasing never gets old, thanks in large part to Sumire Uesaka's charming performance as Alya.
Doga Kobo's animation is clean and expressive, especially in the comedic close-up shots that sell Alya's flustered reactions. The student council arc in the back half also adds some welcome stakes beyond just the will-they-won't-they tension.
If you enjoy sweet, low-stress rom-coms with likeable leads and solid comedic timing, this is an easy recommend, and a second season is already confirmed, so the story isn't over yet. — DIDARUL ISLAM [Chief Editor]
