Black Clover

In the Clover Kingdom, magic decides everything about a person's future, so being born without any is basically unheard of. That's exactly Asta's situation. He and his best friend Yuno grew up together at the same church after both being left there as babies, and they made a promise early on: whoever becomes the strongest will compete to become the next Wizard King, the most powerful mage in the land.

Yuno is the golden child of the two, blessed with rare and overwhelming magical talent. Asta has none of that, so he trains his body instead, determined to prove that hard work matters just as much as raw talent. When they both turn fifteen and receive their grimoires, Yuno pulls a spellbook with a rare four-leaf clover, while Asta somehow ends up with an even rarer five-leaf "black" clover grimoire that grants him anti-magic, letting him nullify magic entirely with his sword.

From there, the two head off in different directions, joining separate Magic Knight squads to chase the same dream. Black Clover follows Asta's journey with the rowdy, rule-breaking Black Bulls squad as he fights his way up from "the guy with zero magic" toward becoming a Magic Knight worth remembering, with plenty of heart, humor, and over-the-top battles along the way.
