Clevatess: The King of Devil Beasts, The Baby and the Brave of Undead
Anime Info
Synopsis
Clevatess is one of the Four Beast Kings, an ancient and terrifyingly powerful ruler of the dark lands. When a party of thirteen heroes marches in to slay him, he wipes them out without much effort, then retaliates by destroying the kingdom of Haiden that sent them after him.
In the chaos, a dying man begs Clevatess to protect his infant son, and to everyone's surprise, the demon king agrees. He also revives Alicia, one of the heroes he killed, binding her to him with a curse so she can help raise the baby. Alicia despises Clevatess for what he's done, but has no choice but to work alongside him and a rescued slave girl named Nell as this unlikely little family starts to take shape.
What follows is a genuinely dark, often brutal fantasy story that slowly explores whether a being who has every reason to hate humanity can learn to see it differently, all while the political fallout of Haiden's destruction threatens to pull them back into war.

Our Review
Clevatess is a genuine hidden gem from Summer 2025. It doesn't lean on an overpowered protagonist stereotype; instead it builds tension through a demon king, a cursed hero, and a baby figuring out an uneasy family dynamic while a much bigger conspiracy unfolds around them.
The action and background art are consistently strong, though the flashback sequences noticeably drop in animation quality compared to the rest of the show. Be warned that this is a genuinely dark series — it deals with abuse, loss, and graphic violence without flinching, so it's not for the faint of heart or for younger viewers.
If you're after a fantasy series with real emotional stakes and aren't put off by its darker moments, Clevatess Season 1 is well worth the watch, and it sets up Season 2 nicely.
