Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!?

Takuya Seo is a quiet otaku who sits behind two of the flashiest girls in class, Kotoko Ijichi and Kei Amane. Since gyaru and otaku are treated like they belong to completely different social worlds, Takuya assumes he has nothing in common with the two of them, and mostly tries to keep his hobby to himself.

That assumption falls apart the day he drops an eraser and accidentally corrects the girls on a detail about an anime they were quietly discussing. It turns out Kei has been hiding a genuine love of anime and manga behind a "my sister's into it" excuse, and Kotoko isn't far behind. Realizing they can finally talk about the shows and characters they love without judgment, the three quickly bond, and Takuya becomes the one place both girls can be their unfiltered, nerdy selves.

The show plays out as a warm, comedic will-they-won't-they, as Kei and Kotoko both start developing real feelings for Takuya through their shared fandom hangouts, while Takuya, endlessly good-natured but a little oblivious, mostly just enjoys finally having friends who get his hobby. It's a lighthearted look at how a shared interest can break down the social "castes" people assume they're stuck in.
