The Apothecary Diaries Season 2
Anime Info
Synopsis
Maomao, a skilled apothecary raised in the pleasure district, was sold into servitude in the imperial rear palace after being kidnapped. Determined to keep a low profile and simply finish her contract in peace, her sharp knowledge of medicine and poisons keeps dragging her into the middle of the court's mysteries anyway, eventually catching the attention of the enigmatic eunuch official Jinshi.
Season 2 picks up with Maomao having left the rear palace to work as a pharmacist in the outer court's medical office, only to find herself pulled right back into the intrigue surrounding the emperor's consorts, hidden conspiracies, and dangerous secrets tied to her own mysterious parentage.
As new political plots and personal revelations unfold across the imperial court, Maomao's talent for solving poison-laced mysteries proves more valuable, and more dangerous, than ever.

Our Review
Season 2 keeps everything that made the first season a standout: clever poison-and-mystery plotting, sharp court politics, and the slow-burn dynamic between Maomao and Jinshi, while raising the emotional stakes considerably as Maomao's own family secrets come into focus.
The production stays consistently strong across all 24 episodes, with the show's signature restrained, atmospheric visual style doing a lot of work to sell the tension of palace intrigue without ever needing flashy action.
An easy recommendation for anyone who enjoyed the first season or wants a smart, character-driven historical mystery with real emotional depth! — DIDARUL ISLAM [Chief Editor]
