Synopsis
Hajime Nagumo is an unremarkable high schooler suddenly summoned to another world along with his entire class to become heroes. While his classmates awaken to flashy, powerful abilities, Hajime is left with a painfully weak alchemy-based skill set, quickly earning him mockery from his peers.
When a dungeon expedition goes wrong, Hajime is betrayed and left for dead at the bottom of a deep abyss. Rather than dying, he's forced to fight for survival in the abyss's monster-infested depths, transforming him both physically and mentally into someone almost unrecognizable from the person he used to be.
Rescued from the depths by the imprisoned vampire Yue, Hajime begins clawing his way back to the surface, gathering companions and immense power along the way, no longer interested in being a hero, but determined to become strong enough that nothing can ever put him in that position again.

Our Review
Arifureta's biggest strength is its premise: a genuinely dark, "villain-coded" isekai lead who gets pushed past his breaking point and comes out the other side transformed, both literally and psychologically. Hajime's transformation from bullied outcast to ruthless survivor is a compelling hook, especially in the early episodes.
Unfortunately, the animation quality is a well-known weak point for this first season, with noticeably rough CGI monster designs and inconsistent action choreography that drag down otherwise strong storytelling and character writing.
Worth a watch for isekai fans who want something a bit darker and more revenge-driven than the genre norm, just go in with tempered expectations for the visuals!
