Synopsis
This OVA slots into the story shortly after Hajime and his group free Myu from captivity, giving the whole party a rare moment to breathe before they have to say their goodbyes and get moving again. To pass the time and hold onto a few more memories together, they end up swapping stories about "The Seven Great Legends of Erisen," a set of local myths and legends tied to the world around them.
What starts as a simple, lighthearted storytelling session slowly turns into something more meaningful, as the tales end up tying back into the group's own bonds, growth, and the adventure they've shared so far. This OVA is a nice, quieter breather for the Arifureta cast, giving them room to just sit together and talk instead of fighting their way through another dungeon. At 42 minutes, it has more room to breathe than the earlier Blu-ray specials, and that extra runtime is put to good use fleshing out the party's bond a little more.
The framing device of swapping local legends works well as a way to slow things down without feeling like filler, and it's a good excuse to spend more time with characters like Myu and Kaori who don't always get the spotlight. Studio MOTHER and asread. keep the visuals consistent with the rest of the franchise, and the OP/ED tracks featured here are genuinely catchy additions.
