Synopsis
Rein Shroud has spent years as the beast tamer of Arios's hero party, quietly using his ability to command animals to support the team's efforts to defeat the Demon Lord. When his teammates decide his skills aren't pulling their weight, they cast him out without a second thought.
Setting off to build a new life as an independent adventurer, Rein soon comes across Kanade, a cat-eared girl being attacked by a monster. After stepping in to protect her, he discovers she's no ordinary girl — she's a member of the Cat Spirits, one of the rare "superior species," and after seeing his talent and kindness, she asks him to form a taming contract with her.
As Rein continues rescuing and taming more members of these powerful superior races — each bringing their own unique strength and personality to his growing group — his true talent as a beast tamer finally starts to shine, and his former party begins to realize just how badly they underestimated him.

Beast Tamer is exactly what it sounds like: a comfy, low-stakes power fantasy about an underrated hero finally getting his flowers. Rein is easy to root for, and his growing bond with Kanade and the rest of his tamed companions gives the show a lot of its charm.
EMT Squared keeps the animation solid throughout, and to its credit, the series mostly avoids leaning too hard into fan service despite the harem-adjacent setup. The downside is that the story doesn't take many risks — you'll see most of the twists coming, and the pacing across 13 episodes occasionally feels stretched thin.
