Synopsis
Ichigo Kurosaki has always been able to see ghosts, but this ability doesn't change his life nearly as much as when he meets Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper who battles evil spirits known as Hollows and guides departed souls to the afterlife.
When Rukia is injured protecting Ichigo's family from a Hollow, she has no choice but to transfer her Soul Reaper powers to him. Now imbued with abilities far beyond those of a typical human, Ichigo takes on the duty of protecting his town from the growing threat of Hollows.
As Ichigo grows into his new role, he's drawn into the larger world of the Soul Society, uncovering conspiracies, forging deep friendships and rivalries, and facing increasingly powerful enemies who threaten the balance between the worlds of the living and the dead.

Bleach remains one of the defining shounen series of the 2000s, and its original run holds up largely thanks to Shirō Sagisu's outstanding score, a genuinely stacked cast of memorable characters, and some of the most iconic sword-fighting choreography in the medium.
The series is not without its flaws — the Bount arc and several stretches of anime-original filler content are widely considered the weakest parts of the run, and pacing can drag during certain arcs. However, the Soul Society arc and the early Arrancar/Espada arcs are frequently cited among the best in shounen anime.
Recommended for fans of Shounen action series who don't mind some filler-heavy stretches in exchange for a huge, well-realized world, deep lore, and one of the genre's most beloved rogues' galleries of villains. — AniSphere Review Team
