Synopsis
After 39 unremarkable years working himself ragged at a Japanese company, Ryoma Takebayashi passes away quietly in his sleep. Taking pity on his exhausted soul, three benevolent gods bring him back to life as a young boy in a magical new world, giving him a second chance he never expected.
Rather than rushing into grand adventures, Ryoma settles into a quiet life deep in the forest, dedicating himself to magic training and — much to his own delight — the study and care of tamed slimes. His slow, contented existence changes when he ends up helping an injured traveler, drawing him out of his solitary forest life and into contact with the kind, sometimes eccentric people of the wider world.
As Ryoma opens a laundry business in town with his ever-growing team of slimes and forms real friendships along the way, this gentle, low-stakes fantasy settles into a warm rhythm of everyday problem-solving, found family, and the simple joy of a second life lived at your own pace.

If you're looking for a genuinely relaxing watch, this one delivers exactly what it promises. Ryoma's slime-tending, laundry-business slice-of-life is low on drama and high on comfort, and there's something quietly satisfying about watching him build a happy, unhurried second life.
Maho Film's presentation is pleasant if unremarkable, and the ensemble around Ryoma — especially the Jamil family — brings enough warmth to keep the episodic structure from feeling repetitive. It's not going to wow you with spectacle or plot twists, and that's very much the point.
