Synopsis
Tanya Degurechaff is a young soldier feared for her merciless, almost predatory efficiency and razor-sharp tactical instincts, earning her the nickname "Devil of the Rhine." Behind that innocent appearance, though, is the soul of a Japanese salaryman who was murdered after being fired for his ruthless business ethics, only to be confronted in the afterlife by a self-proclaimed god calling itself Being X.
Having mocked the being's existence, the salaryman is reincarnated into a war-torn world as Tanya, a young girl forced to rely on the same cold, calculating logic that once defined his old life to claw her way through the ranks of the Empire's military. Determined to reach a safe, comfortable position, Tanya's ambition instead drags her deeper into the front lines of an ever-escalating war, all while she wages a private, defiant grudge against the god who put her there.

Tanya the Evil takes a familiar isekai setup — a modern-day salaryman reborn in a fantasy world — and twists it into something much darker and sharper. Instead of a wish-fulfillment power fantasy, we get a ruthless, deeply amoral protagonist clawing her way through a brutal magical-WWI-style war, purely to avoid an early death.
The alternate-Europe war setting is genuinely gripping, and the aerial mage battles are staged with real weight. MYTH & ROID's "JINGO JUNGLE" opening is one of the more iconic anime themes of its era and sets the tone perfectly from episode one.
It's a must-watch for anyone who wants their isekai served with dark humor, military strategy, and a genuinely unhinged lead instead of the usual harem trappings.
