Synopsis
Yonosuke "Eiyuu" Sakai loves romantic comedies, especially the ones about childhood friends falling for each other. There's just one problem: he's convinced that kind of story only happens in fiction. He has two childhood friends of his own, Shio Minamo and Akari Hiodoshi, but in his mind, they've always just been friends, nothing more.
Now that the three of them are attending the same high school, Eiyuu slowly starts noticing things about Shio and Akari he never paid attention to before. And it's not one-sided either. The girls have started making their feelings pretty obvious, whether it's during class, after school, or completely out of nowhere.
Whether Eiyuu can actually admit what's happening right in front of him, or whether he'll keep insisting his own life could never turn into a rom-com, is what makes this sweet, silly slice-of-life comedy worth following.

Osananajimi to wa Love Comedy ni Naranai is exactly what it says on the tin: a light, easy-to-watch rom-com about a boy who refuses to believe his childhood friends could ever fall for him. It leans heavily on familiar harem tropes, but it does them with enough charm and comedic timing to stay enjoyable through all 12 episodes.
The main character's denial is played for laughs more than romance, so if you're hoping for real relationship progress by the finale, you'll likely be a bit disappointed — the show mostly resets to status quo. That said, the cast carries a lot of the appeal here, especially Shio, whose teasing energy tends to steal every scene she's in.
The opening and ending themes are catchy, the voice cast does a solid job bringing the girls' personalities to life, and the animation gets the job done without being anything flashy.
