Tanjiro Kamado [竈門 炭治郎] - Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Tanjiro Kamado is the kind-hearted hero of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. After his family is attacked and his little sister Nezuko is turned into a demon, Tanjiro sets out on a mission — find a cure to turn her human again, and stop the demons who hurt his family.

"I will swing my blade down and lop off the head of any demon without mercy! But I will not belittle those who regret their actions... because demons were once human."

What makes Tanjiro special is his heart. He fights demons without hesitation to protect people, but he never forgets that demons were once human too. If a demon truly feels sorry for what they did, he treats them with kindness instead of hate.

Background

Before becoming a demon slayer, Tanjiro lived a simple life selling coal to support his family. Everything changed the night a powerful demon named Muzan killed almost everyone he loved, leaving only his sister Nezuko alive — but turned into a demon.

Instead of giving in to anger, Tanjiro chooses hope. He trains hard, grows stronger, and turns his pain into a reason to protect others and find a way to save his sister.

Appearance

Tanjiro has messy black hair with red tips, and warm dark red eyes. He's known for the scar on his forehead, which started as a small burn and later became a jagged mark tied to his fighting power.

He wears a black-and-green checkered haori over his uniform, along with special earrings shaped like a rising sun. His hands are rough from years of hard training.

Demon Slayer Uniform

As a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, Tanjiro wears a black uniform with silver buttons and the kanji for "Destroy" stitched on the collar. He carries a wooden box on his back to safely transport Nezuko during the day, since sunlight is dangerous for her.

Growth Through Battle

Over the course of his journey, Tanjiro takes on some seriously tough fights and gets hurt more than once. Even after facing incredible danger, he never stops fighting for the people he loves — and that courage is a big part of why fans love him so much.
